Appreciate your input and the history you’ve shared. Out of curiosity, will you be baking the recipe yourself?

Hallo Heather. "Broonie" is a SCOTTISH recipe, NOT Irish! The word itself is Scottish. Yes, Scots moving to Ireland would have brought the recipe with them. Hi Elizabeth. Yes, you can absolutely can use a hand mixer. Just make sure to start on slow speeds to avoid splattering. Happy baking!!! I hope you love it as much as we do.

Hi Carrie. Yes, quick cooking oats means quick oats that you would use for no bake cookies. Thank you so much for asking. I hope you enjoy!

For the “quick cooking oatmeal” does that mean quick oats like I use for no bake cookies or old fashioned oats like for a baked oatmeal cookie? Thank you for the clarification.

That is such a great question. Unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with how dairy free butter performs. When I first realized I have a sensitivity to conventional dairy I would bake with oil. Using oil does make the cake more moist which some love, others not so much.
If you do make it with dairy free butter please let me know how it turns out.
