Steps To Making Gingerbread Martini

  1. Start by making the Gingerbread syrup at least 4 hours before making the martinis. This will give the syrup plenty of time to chill in the refrigerator.
  2. Place vodka and Kahlua in freezer. By doing this, it will make the martinis extra frosty. Don’t worry, the alcohol content will prevent them from freezing. (Note: Martini glasses may also be chilled.)
  3. Once the ingredients are chilled, place honey and brown sugar onto 2 separate plates or wide bottomed bowls. Dip the rim of the glasses into the honey and then the brown sugar.
  4. Combine the martini ingredients and mix well.
  5. Serve immediately.

Gingerbread Syrup

The Secret to luxurious Gingerbread Martinis is the homemade simple syrup.  It is because of this syrup that this Christmas Cocktail tastes just like eating Gingerbread Cake (or this super popular Irish version). To Make the simple syrup simply combine the ingredients into a small saucepan. Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring consistently until the sugar is melted. Make the syrup at least 4 hours before serving so that it has enough time to chill in the refrigerator. Here are my favorite ingredients for making Gingerbread Syrup:

Tools Needed For Gingerbread Martini

The beauty of making these Gingerbread Martinis, you don’t need fancy equipment. They can be mixed easily in a glass measuring cup and may be served in any glasses that you have available. However, for an extra fancy approach this shaker, these glasses and this container (for the Gingerbread syrup) makes the occasion extra festive.

Recipe Notes
  • If using a martini shaker, add a few ice cubes to help create extra icy cold martinis. Additionally, keeping the vodka and Kahlua in the freezer will help to make the martinis extra frosty.
  • The Gingerbread syrup recipe above will yield approximately 1 cup, enough for 4 batches of Gingerbread Martinis or 8 martinis in whole.
  • Either molasses or honey may be used in rimming the martini glass. However, honey does tend to be more beautiful in presentation.
